Zak Phillips

Meet Zak our Lead Volunteer.

Since joining Cambrian Village Trust in July 2024, he has been a huge help with all tasks around the trust. From leading bush craft activities to serving in the shop to supporting new volunteers. Zak has volunteered a huge; 680hours! Wow.
His passion and dedication make a real difference, and we’re so grateful to have him on our team!
Zak said “I enjoy being part of the CVT team and making an impact on my community. CVT has Impacted me as well, I’ve learnt new skills and grown in confidence”.

Matthew

Meet Matthew, one of our volunteers.

Since joining Cambrian Village Trust in May 2025, he has completed 400+ hours. Matthew really enjoys bush craft activities and being hands-on in the workshop. His passion and dedication make a real difference, and we’re so grateful to have him on our team! Matthew said, “it’s a really nice community, and now I recognise lots of people in my community, and they recognise me. It feels really good”.

Chris

Meet Chris, one of our volunteers.

Since joining Cambrian Village Trust in August 2024 he has completed over 105 hours.
Chris volunteers in our Siop y Llyn. Chris is our top ‘up seller’, always showing all the stock to customers and telling what’s on offer. His passion and dedication make a real difference, and we’re so grateful to have him on our team!
Chris said, “volunteering gets me out of the house, I enjoy working with public and selling. I like learning new skills here, and I hope I can progress”.

Susan

Meet Susan, one of our volunteers.

Since joining Cambrian Village Trust in February 2024, she has completed more than 300 hours.
Susan volunteers in our Siop y Llyn. She originally started after retirement, Susan husband was volunteering in the country park and she thought, why not volunteer as well. This was to give herself something to fill her time, but now it’s become more than that.
Susan said ‘I look forward to coming down and seeing people and being an active part of the community. It’s not just a few hours out of the house, its exercise and social’
Her passion and dedication make a real difference, and we’re so grateful to have her on our team!

Josh

Meet Josh, one of our volunteers.

Since joining Cambrian Village Trust, he has completed over 450 hours.
Josh single handedly keeps the ducks fed. It’s his favourite task, going for a walk around the lake and feeding the ducks. He also chats to the community and does a great job encouraging them to buy bird seed at Siop Y Llyn. Not only does he feed the ducks, but he’s an essential part of the team, always giving a helping hand, bringing the fun, and he’s always brilliant support in our shop.
Josh said, ‘I really enjoy coming here and feeling part of the team. It’s built my confidence and skills’.

Ethan

Meet Ethan, one of our volunteers.

In June 2025 Ethan joined the team for work experience and decided to stay as a volunteer.
Ethan volunteers all over the site but his main focus has been the gym and sports, in future he endeavours to be a PT so this has been a great learning experience for him and us. Ethan stated he’s learnt more than he can describe, from boxing to teaching classes.
Ethan said ‘Mikey, Miles, Deon really made my experience interesting, informative and fun’.

Geraint

Meet Geraint, one of our volunteers.

He started with us in October 2024 and has since completed over 170hours.
Geraint works so hard, from litter picking to working in the garden to painting. He’ll turn his hand to anything.
Geraint likes to ensure all his work is completed and we know we can trust him to complete all tasks to the highest standard.

Liam

Meet Liam, one of our volunteers.

He started with us in June 2025 and volunteers throughout the summer holidays and has since continued to do this as part of our alternative education programme.
Liam mainly works in the shop, so please pop in and hello to him. He works so hard and usually has some lovely music while he’s working.
Liam is a really friendly and welcoming member of the team and a joy to have in the shop.
Liam said ‘It was good to have something do over the summer holidays’.

Tess and Kay

Meet Tess and Kay, 2 of our volunteers.

They are part of our Forkers Group, this group gets together every Tuesday at 2pm to help our community gardens flourish. Between them and the group they have lots of experience and various expertise.
I think you’ll all agree that our gardens look lovely and also produce some delicious vegetables. We are so grateful for the hard work of the forkers. If you want to get involved, get in touch. They said ‘We are so proud of our produce. All grown from seeds. All home grown.
Proud to see our hard work come into fruition’.

Scott

Meet Scott, one of our volunteers.

Scott started volunteering at Cambrian Village Trust in February 2025.
Scott is always a happy go lucky guy, great attitude and always brings the jokes to office. He absolutely loves working in the gym but he will turn his hand to any task.
Scott said ‘I enjoy working in the gym and having banter and fun with the team’.

Christie

Meet, Christie, one of our volunteers.

She started volunteering at Cambrian Village Trust in August 2024.
Christie started off attending one of our groups and now she takes care of our shop every Friday and does a wonderful job.
If you ever pop into the shop, you’ll know if she’s working because the radio will be on and she’ll, no doubt, be singing along and welcoming you with a big smile.
Christie said ‘I like the staff, and I like helping people in the shop’.

Jamie

Meet, Jamie, one of our volunteers.

He started volunteering at Cambrian Village Trust in September 2025.
Jamie started his journey with CVT as part of the walking group. He enjoys coming along each week and wandering and chatting to the staff and participants. He’s expressed that it’s a great way to socialise and keep fit.
Jamie took part in our Seeing Is Believing event a few weeks ago, telling the visitors about his journey here and we wanted to spotlight him because he really has come so far. Jamie volunteers on events and in our shop. He does a great job, and we really appreciate his efforts.
Jamie said ‘I started off coming to the walking group, the staff here have given me a lot so volunteering is my way of giving back, I really it’.

Gareth

Meet, Gareth, one of our volunteers.

He started volunteering at Cambrian Village Trust approximately 5years ago.
Gareth started helping with the gardens and doing some of the bigger jobs, digging etc. However, with a background in engineering, his skill set fits perfectly to our hydro.
Gareth stated that when he was asked about volunteering on the hydro, he just had to say yes! Gareth is very passionate about his work. He’s been invited to conferences and has spoken at a few. Not only Gareth, but his wife has volunteered for us and his son is a shop supplier, so this is a whole family affair.
Gareth said ‘I really enjoy it, I feel useful, and it’s for the community’.

Dave

Meet, Dave, one of our volunteers.

He’s been involved with our walking rugby for so many years we’ve lost count.
Dave organises and coaches the team. Not only that, but he has also previously organised walking rugby tournaments at Cambrian and has been part of tournaments at various other venues.
Dave truly does love his rugby and his team. After their session they usually head over to the Lakeside Cafe for a cuppa and a chat.
Dave said ‘I really like coaching and getting to know the team’.

Shania

Meet, Shania, one of our volunteers.

Shania started volunteering recently, she really wanted to grow her confidence and gain some work experience.
She really enjoys coming here and we really enjoy having her as part of the team.
Shania attends with a support worker and she stated that coming here is the highlight of Shania week. She loves being near the water, seeing the wildlife, and being emersed in the community.
Shania said ‘I really like meeting all the customers and serving them’.

Justin

Meet, Justin, one of our newest and youngest volunteers.

Justin is our most chatty volunteer, he’s always up for a catch up, getting to know the team and the community.
There’s no task too big or too small, he’s always ready to lend a helping hand, especially in the workshop or around the fireplace.
Justin said ‘I really love learning in the workshop and working with the team’.
